Vocals, Piano, and Saxophone

Randy has always loved the classic jazz singers, from Ella to Frank. His two trios cover all that territory and more, diving even into the twenties! 
For younger audiences we've also reharmonized popular songs like, "When I Was Your Man".

The musical requirements for this genre are simply voice and a chordal instrument, but we frequently are asked to have percussion as well. The size of the group you will pick depends on various factors, such as  budget, room size, etc.

Randy also plays piano and sax, so it is as if you are getting an extra musician at no additional cost!

As a long-time listener of big bands and small combo groups spanning the 40's-60's, Randy's saxophone playing is influenced by such

renowned artists such as  John Coltrane and Stan Getz.  Randy delivers a cool, smokey dynamic tenor sound with a beautiful vibrato tone.  His speciality styles are bop and post-bop. 


Thanks to the combined talents of the other members of our groups, several of our clients have commented that our music sounds just like their own jazz records! 

Despite specializing in post-bop and bop, Randy can also provide musical styles from many decades, from the 1920's to the present era..

Randy began playing piano at the tender age of seven, and since then has acquired the skills to play in various styles, although his specialty is post-bop jazz in the style of Bill Evans. 

Heavily influenced by classical musical theory, Randy's piano playing has that natural, almost orchestral feel. He uses larger voicings and chord alterations to make things sound unique all the time. 

Coupled with a bassist for accompaniment, this music possesses an intimacy that is suitable for a feature musical performance or as background music for a small gathering.
